Environmental Health Coordinator

Are you a self-driven, organized, and have an interest in environmental health? If so, Monroe County’s Health Department might have the job for you! We are hiring for a full-time Environmental Health Coordinator. Successful candidates will have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and sufficient liability insurance is required. Must hold a valid Wisconsin registered sanitarian or REHS/RS credential or hold a RS-in training credential. Candidates who would be RS-eligible within two years of hire and meet one of the following may also be considered:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and completing at least 30 semester or 45 quarter-hour academic credits in environmental, physical, biological, chemical, or environmental health courses; 
  2. Bachelor’s degree in physical or biological sciences and completing at least 30 semester or 45 quarter-hour academic credits in environmental, physical, biological, chemical, or environmental health courses;
  3. Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or 
  4. Associate’s degree in environmental, physical, biological, or chemical sciences. 

Our Environmental Health Coordinator serves as the Registered Sanitarian/Environmental Health Specialist for Monroe County. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Health Program and will promote and monitor individual, environmental, and population health programs and contracts. This position is responsible for enforcement of food & health safety laws, administrative codes, regulations, and standards governing retail food and recreational licensing programs under the authority of Wisconsin Statues. This work involves on-site evaluation, inspection, and documentation of sanitation, processes, equipment, and hazards; application of codes and statutes; providing technical consultation and educational services to industry representatives, business owners/operators, agents, local and state officials, the general public, etc.
