CNA2 - Health Unit Coordinator (Job#313733)

CNA2 - Health Unit Coordinator with the Medical Surgical Unit at Providence Hood River Hospital. This posting represents a .9 FTE, day shift opening (7am-7:30pm, 3, 12-hour shifts per week) with rotating weekends. Apply today!

In this position you will:

  • Contribute to a high functioning team
  • Meaningfully advance post-operative recovery of surgical patients.
  • Assist RN with admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Measure and record vital signs, output, and weights
  • Collect specimens and perform fingerstick capillary blood tests
  • Assist with client mobility and transfers, using lifts and safe patient handling devices
  • Opportunities for continuing education and professional development, including annual CNA conference
  • Other duties as assigned

The CNA2/HUC is a key person within the nursing unit who provides overall administrative and technical assistance and support in the operation of the assigned nursing unit; Collaborates with other staff and leaders in the development, oversight and operation of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Training in a recognized health care program. Or equivalent educ/experience
  • Health care program: 1 year experience performing secretarial duties in healthcare.
  • Coursework/Training: Medical terminology course. Or equivalent educ/experience.
  • Health Unit Coordinator course: Equivalent knowledge.
  • Coursework/Training: Completion of Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) recognized Acute Care CNA 2 course. Or equivalent educ/experience.
  • CNA 2 coursework: Grandfathered to CNA 2 per OSBN requirements.
  • upon hire: Oregon Nursing Assistant Certification License.
  • upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association.
  • Experience with a variety of software applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: One year of post-high school education
  • Coursework/Training: Satisfactory completion of Health Unit Coordinator course. Or equivalent educ/experience.
  • upon hire: National Certification Health Unit Coordinator.
  • Experience as a preceptor/role model.
  • 1 year Experience as a CNA 2.
