Clinical Pharmacist
Assists in the development and maintenance of pharmacy services that promote and provide pharmaceutical care. Participates directly in clinically oriented services. Performs the Essential Functions outlined in the job description for a Staff Pharmacist and may be assigned to a specific Pharmacy station.

Participates in drug regimen management and performs clinical services by:
- Changing the duration of treatment for a current drug therapy.
- Adjusting the strength, dosage form, frequency of administration or route of administration of a drug.
- Discontinuing the use of a drug.
- Adding a drug to the treatment regimen.
- Recommending, ordering and monitoring laboratory tests.
Serves as a resource to the Medical Staff and other healthcare professionals concerning pharmaceutical care by:
- Providing drug information services.
- Reviewing patient medical records and making recommendations about appropriate drug therapy.
- Identifying problems and making recommendations concerning patient compliance, therapeutic response, drug interactions and similar issues.
- Collecting and analyzing data.
Serves as a resource to the Pharmacy Services staff concerning clinically oriented issues or questions by:
- Assisting with the orientation, related to clinical services provided by the department, of new Pharmacy Services staff members as directed.
Assists with the Pharmacy Services department's participation in research and clinical drug trials by:
- Working with the investigator(s) to analyze and approve protocols.
- Maintaining records (etc.) as required.
Assists with drug usage evaluation and adverse drug reaction reporting by:
- Recommending areas to be studied.
- Preparing or assisting with the preparation of criteria for review.
- Collecting and analyzing data.
- Preparing basic reports and assisting with the preparation of more complex reports.
- Providing support to the Staff Pharmacists involved in these activities as directed.
Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:
- Completing other job-related duties and projects as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR), and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.
Education and Experience
- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, a master's degree in pharmacy or a Pharm D Degree from an accredited college or university. A license or demonstrated eligibility for licensure, to practice pharmacy in Michigan is required. A minimum of two-three years of experience in clinical pharmacy practice is preferred; the clinical experience is required if education is a bachelor's degree.

- Demonstrates the interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with others, in order to ensure the provision of pharmaceutical services.
- Demonstrates good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to communicate in a tactful, sincere, effective manner with patients, families, Physicians, other healthcare professionals and various Hospital staff.
Working Conditions
