Duties

  • You will provide sexual assault victim advocacy and a non-clinical response to include accepting Restricted and Unrestricted Reports of sexual assault, providing referrals, and informing victims of their options.
  • You will provide risk screening, ongoing safety assessments and planning, and needs assessments for adult victims of sexual assault.
  • You will implement mandatory standardized risk screening protocols to address immediate risk and safety concerns and apply strategies to develop tailored interventions that address the needs of individual victims.
  • You will uphold the rights and confidentiality preferences of victims, support victims when contacting appropriate offices, and ensure victims receive information and support during administrative, medical, investigative, and legal procedures.
  • You will provide assistance to victims in securing medical treatment for physical and psychological injuries; safe shelter; protective orders; support before, during, and after trials; and any other services identified and requested by the victim.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You must obtain and maintain an active D-SAACP certification in accordance with (IAW) Section 584 of Public Law 112-81 and DoD Instruction (DoDI) 6495.03 as a condition of employment, and any subsequent policy updates applicable to this program.
  • You will be on-call or on rational status that requires varied work hours, to include a requirement to be available 24/7.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

 

Qualifications

IN ADDITION to the Basic Requirements for this position (See Education Section), your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing non-clinical support to adult victims of sexual assault and sexual harassment; 2) Applying primary prevention principles, sexual assault dynamics, and local social services delivery systems, concepts, principles and theories and community resources for sexual assault, victim advocacy, and the prevention and response to provide one-one-one victim advocacy assistance and information to sexual assault victims; 3) Experience working with military and civilian medical, social service, law enforcement and legal personnel on behalf of sexual assault victims; 4) Using software applications, such as Microsoft Office suite to enter, collect and organize data, prepare reports, compose written reports and develop information; and 5) Employing interpersonal skills and professional, verbal, and written communication methods and techniques to build trust and develop supportive relationships with individuals and families of diverse backgrounds (racial, ethnic, religious, socioeconomic), sexual orientation, and gender identities.

Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess the following:

Successful completion of a behavioral or social science degree, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled
OR
A combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

 

Additional information

This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. PCS may be authorized.

As a condition of employment, incumbent must be able to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and holidays, in an on-call or rotational basis. The on-call or rational status requires varied work hours, to include a requirement to be available 24/7, to respond to the following, but not limited to: calls received via the helpline, from military/civilian law enforcement, from treatment facilities or local hospitals.

The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a state issued driver's license to transport themselves locally for response to victim reports. Occasional travel outside the local area may be required, up to 25% for meetings, training, or other program related events, or needs.

The Key West area is a unique and beautiful area which brings with it a high cost-of-living. Do your due diligence in researching the associated costs of living in the area because commuting is not a plausible option.
