Accounting Technician 1
General Description
This position supports the Administration/Finance Unit of the Parking Division.
This is responsible paraprofessional accounting work in the Parking Division’s Finance Unit. The work requires the application of a variety of established accounting and bookkeeping principles and practices. Working with the Parking Manager, the successful candidate will assist in the development and application of specialized financial and record-keeping systems relative to the Division’s billing, receivables, purchasing, general ledger, and related financial activities. The work requires close attention to detail, excellent computer skills, and the ability to work independently within established policies, procedures, and formats. The work is performed under the supervision of the Parking Division Manager.
Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. This position is scheduled for 38.75 hours per week.
Employees are expected to progress from Accounting Technician 1 to Accounting Technician 2 as a function of increased experience and independence of action.
Employees may be eligible for loan forgiveness through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Review invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment
- Use computer system to process payments to vendors and encumber purchase orders
- Contact vendors and departments to resolve issues
- Prepare purchase orders
Accounts Receivable
- Prepare monthly parking lease agreement invoices and monthly meter billings
- Process annual maintenance agreements
- Track, coordinate, and process billings related to mixed-use facilities
- Record and prepare invoices related to repairs
Perform related work as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Three (3) years of advanced level accounting clerical or bookkeeping experience, including financial reporting, budget forecasting, account reconciliation, and/or payroll function(s)

- One (1) year of advanced level accounting clerical or bookkeeping experience, including financial reporting, budget forecasting, account reconciliation, and/or payroll function(s); AND
- Associate's degree in Accounting
-OR-
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
-OR-
- Four (4) years of experience in applying the following:
- Bookkeeping and accounting practices, principles, and procedures and the ability to apply them to a wide variety of situations; AND
- Two (2) years of experience in applying the following:
- General office practices
- Computers and computer software applicable to the duties of the position
- Recordkeeping principles and systems (both manual and automated systems)
Physical Requirements:
Work is sedentary in nature, generally performed in an office environment using office equipment such as telephone, computer, copier, calculator, etc.
