Technician roles are posted at all levels 1, 2, and Senior and will be filled based on skills, certifications and experience. 

The Animal Care Technician will engage in the basic animal husbandry, routine care, and maintenance of animal living quarters, while collaborating with research staff to maintain certain study related tasks The Animal Care Technician will hone skills in other areas of decision making, coachability, and being a team player as they begin to mentor and train other Animal Care Technicians in animal behavior, technical skills, and with minimal data management. This is a non-exempt role that is eligible for overtime after 40 hours in a workweek and has no supervisory responsibility.

The preferred candidate must have a GED and one year of direct animal experience. This role works predominately in a laboratory setting. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There will be handling of and/or exposure to animal tissues and zoonotic organisms. You must have the ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 respirators. Physical activity includes lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying (up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet), pushing/pulling (up to 75lbs force), reaching, gripping/pinching, standing, and ascending a ladder without restriction. Ability to work beyond typical work schedule including but not limited to evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts with short notice.
