R&D Summer Internship - May - August 2025

POSITION OVERVIEW

This internship is available for the summer months, starting in late May or early May 2025 through August 2025. The intern should expect to work full-time throughout the summer. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing, planning, and conducting lab experiments
  • Testing and analyzing lab samples
  • Follow documented procedures and prepare documentation as required
  • Documenting the work and producing written summary reports and presentations
  • Supporting engineers/scientists on lab or pilot experiments
  • Gather, compile, and report data in spreadsheet form
  • Use various pieces of lab testing instrumentation
  • Communicate results to appropriate customers
  • Prepare samples for shipment
  • Set up, operate and maintain lab equipment/instrumentation
  • Suggest ways to do things better and more efficient
              

Education, experience and qualifications: 

  • Educational background includes individuals earning their B.S. or M.S. with at least a 3.00 GPA in any of the following programs, rising Juniors and Seniors preferred:
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Chemistry 
    • Biochemistry
    • Material Science/Engineering
  • Prior experience in a lab environment or completion of a lab safety course.
  • Strong Math/Numerical/Statistical Skills - equivalent of advanced algebra or trigonometry
  • Experience in general laboratory procedures and testing methodologies.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and safety focused.
  • Ability to complete tasks with little supervision.
  • Ability to shift priority of testing needs.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
