Autism Camp Counselor Internship

Are you a college student looking for a unique and rewarding internship for Winter 2024? Dive into an unforgettable experience with us at Camp Royall! This is your chance to work hands-on as a camp counselor while gaining invaluable experience with the autism spectrum.

Get Real-World Experience: Spend two weeks immersed in camp life, working directly with autistic campers of all ages (4-80+) and support levels. Perfect for those interested in Recreational Therapy, Psychology, Speech or Occupational Therapy, Special Education, Outdoor Education or looking for direct hands-on experience with a neurodivergent population. 

Room and Board Provided: Counselors live on-site from December 29th- January 10th. 

Competitive Pay: $500 per week for residential counselors.

What You’ll Do: 

Support & Supervise: Assist campers with self-care activities like dressing, grooming, and toileting, while implementing visual and behavioral strategies to enhance communication and behavior. 

Fun & Nurturing Environment: Create a positive, supportive atmosphere where every camper can thrive. 

What We’re Looking For: 

Age Requirements:  18+ and high school diploma for Residential Counselors. 

Passion & Willingness: A strong desire to learn about autism and manage its challenges. 

Physical & Emotional Readiness: Ability to supervise campers constantly and manage all responsibilities. 

Personal Qualities: Patience, energy, a sense of humor, flexibility, and the ability to work well with others. 

Winter 2024 Dates: 

Move-In Day: December 28th 

Staff Training: December 29th 

Winter Camp Week 1: December 29th - January 3rd 

Winter Camp Week 2: January 5th - 10th
