JOB OVERVIEW

 

Under supervision, perform administrative assistant and generalist responsibilities in the Human Resources Department.   Maintain records, HRIS system, assist with recruitment, on/offboarding, employee relations, benefit administration, website and other supportive human resource functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

Assist employees, department heads, and elected officials with human resources related questions and requests for information.  Respond to general inquiries from the public.
Coordinate applicant tracking process and assist with recruiting efforts, verify personnel requisition forms, assist with job postings, schedule interviews, check references, and correspond with applicants.
Ensure new hire paperwork is completed and entered into the HRIS system.
Verify payroll/personnel authorization forms for accuracy and process utilizing the HRIS system.  Assist with enrollment and changes to employee insurance coverage.
Maintain personnel and departmental files, create and maintain HR forms and perform other record keeping duties.
Perform clerical support functions such as answering the telephone, filing, photocopying, scanning, and drafting correspondence.
Coordinate exit interviews questionnaires and meetings and assist with offboarding.
Departmental expert on NeoGov system.  Ensure systems are used to capacity and answer questions from users.
Participate in committees and special events, i.e. Health Fair, Job Fairs, Employee Appreciation Week.  Attend work related meetings, conferences and seminars.
Assist with HR webpage, employee communications and other projects as directed.
Receive, stamp, and distribute incoming mail, and process outgoing mail.
Report to work with regular, predictable, and consistent attendance at designated location and time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management required OR Bachelor’s degree in closely related field and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working as an HR professional.
Familiarity with HRIS and human resources experience in public sector preferred.
*Approved work experience beyond that required which provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered and substituted for the stated education.
Special Requirements
Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Driver’s License, as well as meet eligibility requirements of “acceptable driver standards” as defined by the County.

Microsoft suite (word, excel, outlook, power point, teams)
Social media platforms
English language to include grammar, spelling, sentence structure, vocabulary and proofreading skills

On-site work office location Monday – Friday during day-shift hours, however hours may occasionally include evening, early morning, weekends, holidays, call-in, or overtime.   Work may be fast-paced when dealing with multiple priorities and time constraints as well as constant interruptions.

  • Have sufficient vision which permits moderate to heavy production and review of a wide variety of materials in hardcopy and electronic form
