The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a well-qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computational engineering/science, or comparable engineering discipline for the Systems Engineering & Integration Department reporting to the Energy & Grid Systems Integration Lead. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.

This postdoctoral researcher will focus on the application of diverse systems theories including monitoring, control, and supervisory methods, computational intelligence (e.g., artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital twins), optimization, data analytics, and uncertainty quantification. Having broad mathematical and computational skills is desirable.

Responsibilities Include:

 

  • You are expected to be an asset to our interdisciplinary R&D team and work both alone and as a team member.
  • The candidate must be self-motivated but also take direction from other team members and peers.
  • The position entails producing scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication and presentations of research results at national and international conferences and meetings.

 

Qualifications

 Minimum Requirements: 

  • PhD in electrical (and computer) engineering, aerospace engineering, computational engineering/science, or comparable disciplines.
  • PhD requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years.
  • Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills in English.

Desired Requirements: 

  • U.S. citizenship preferred; not required.
  • Experience with mathematical and computational skills.

 

Job Information: 

  • The target salary for this position is $96,900. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
