The Mayor's Office of Contract Services (MOCS) is a New York City oversight and service agency that manages procurement citywide, from planning and release of agency solicitations to payment of vendors. Annually, agencies procure billions in products and services from a diverse pool of vendors that represent various industries. MOCS therefore aims to ensure that the procurement process remains fair, transparent, efficient and cost-effective.

MOCS makes it easier to do business through use of end-to-end technology tools, increases transparency by publication of enriched data and hosting public hearings, and strengthens procurement operations by providing direct assistance and resources to all stakeholders. MOCS also partners with agencies and vendors to identify areas for policy reform, resulting in ongoing process improvement to reduce administrative burdens and increase the positive impact of services on communities. The MOCS Director serves as the City Chief Procurement Officer.

The Help Desk Intern will be providing technical support to MOCS users for desktop systems software, hardware and network issues during work hours. The Help Desk Intern will be responsible for:

  • Answering, evaluating, and prioritizing incoming telephone, email and self-service requests for assistance from end-users
  • Tier 1 troubleshooting of technical issues on printers, PC, phone, email, Internet, VPN and local area network access
  • Maintain PC, Mobile and VOIP inventory
  • Supporting wireless mobile devices with connections/synchronization to email, calendars, and contacts
  • Demonstrating awareness of procedures, policies, and processes
  • Escalating Help Desk issues, especially critical issues to appropriate teams in a timely manner
  • Perform special project as assigned

 

Qualifications/Special Skills: 

  • Highly Self-motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and software problems over the phone or on-site
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Technologies
  • Basic knowledge of standard PC, laptop, Mobile and peripheral configurations
  • Ability to document policies and procedures

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
