Staff Events Intern
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Events Intern will ensure a welcoming, supportive, inclusive, and fun environment for all staff. This includes planning, organizing, promoting, and leading events and activities for a diverse group of staff and volunteers. The events and activities will range from cultural events, volunteer opportunities, hikes, intramural sports leagues, etc. Staff Events Interns will communicate events and happenings at the YMCA to staff and volunteers through email, newsletters, flyers, and GroupMe. The intern will be responsible for planning and executing large events that may include guest attendance, including but not limited to: International Dinner and Fair, 4th of July Parade, Staff Talent Show, Turkey Trot 5k, Welcoming Week, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Plans, leads, and executes staff events and activities; these events can range from cultural celebrations, volunteer opportunities, and game nights
· Host club meetings and events for various interest groups such as Arts and Culture, Sports and Fitness, Community Service and Social Justice, etc.
· Promote staff activities and events to staff via flyers, activity guides, newsletters, word of mouth, and GroupMe
· Welcomes new staff to the YMCA by greeting them on arrival day, helping transport their luggage, eating a meal together, and planning community building events
· Develops positive relationships with staff and volunteers and encourages participation in YMCA events and activities
· Collaborates with staff from other departments to create meaningful and desired events and activities
· Plans events that can exceed 300+ in attendance.
· Must be able to take direction and work independently
· Work varied hours including holidays, weekends, and nights
· Possess enthusiasm to serve staff and develop positive relationships
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
· Be adventurous, creative, self-motivated, resourceful, and a team player
· Ability to fluently speak, write, and read English
· Be comfortable with technology and administrative duties
· Willingness to assist in other areas as necessary
· Possess enthusiasm for staff experience and creating meaningful events and activities for all
· Strong organizational skills and ability to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
· Have or obtain First Aid and CPR Certification
· Must possess a valid, USA state-issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles
· Be comfortable speaking and presenting in groups of up to 300
· Work in other departments and areas as needed.
