Archives Assistant Intern

Internship Opportunity (paid): Archives Assistant, ATD Fourth World Movement Inc.

Part time, Temporary or Term, Internship, paid ($16.80 gross/hour, no benefits) or for academic credit.

16 hours/week, 08/01/2024 to 10/31/2024

All work is done at the ATD Fourth World archiving office at 3112 N California Avenue in Chicago (Avondale neighborhood) during regular office hours, weekdays (Monday- Friday) between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Schedule is flexible within those times.

Job description:

Providing descriptive metadata for photograph negatives of the ATD Fourth World USA teams for the years 2000 to 2009. This includes arranging photograph negatives and photo prints as well as providing context and other metadata on our shared forms and finding aids prior to digitization by the Joseph Wresinski Archives and Research Centre.
• General accession of the collection
• Other duties as assigned by our full-time archivist or archives coordinator.

Requirements:

The ideal intern is detail-oriented, can work independently and in a small group setting, and can follow instructions. Has basic knowledge of computer applications. Familiarity with archival best practices and procedures.

Education:

Undergraduate work in archives or graduate student in Archives, Museum, Records Management, or Information Studies.

The applicant will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement and must be 18 years of age or older. Proof of current COVID-19 vaccinations required. Mask wearing policy subject to discussion.
