The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems. This position is with Agency Services area of DTMB.

 

As a Database Administrator, this employee is responsible for supporting SQL server database environments for DHHS. Under the guidance of a senior-level DBA, this position will perform database administration tasks and duties such as database installation and configuration, database design, development and deployment, database performance monitoring, tuning and troubleshooting, database security design and implementation, database backup, recovery and data management. This position will be involved in implementing flexible, scalable, and reliable database environments primarily on Windows platforms, via standard data management practices applied to database software configuration, migrations, upgrades and management, database hardware/software integration, database security, disaster recovery, and database performance tuning. This position will establish, manage, and enforce database policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures, as well as develop procedures/packages for automating the propagation of variable data to the applications like the app owner passwords and make recommendations on optimal performance of applications from the database perspective. The position performs tasks involving numerous variables both within, and external to, the scope of DHHS databases and requires considerable knowledge in the areas of computer system architecture, database management, security, business continuity, and familiarity with project management methodologies.

 SIGNING BONUS:

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Education

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11

Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

 

Experience

No specific type or amount is required.

 

Alternate Education and Experience

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 

Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

 

OR

 

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.
