Journeyman Electrician

Become a pivotal force in powering the City of Oshkosh! As an Electrician, you'll delve into thrilling electrical construction and maintenance projects, electrifying the cityscape from parks to playgrounds, and beyond. Each day is a new adventure where your expertise ensures our city shines brightly and operates seamlessly.  This is a full-time position with an hourly rate of $29.89 - $34.16 hourly (Depending on Qualifications).

Exciting Responsibilities Await

  • Spark Your Creativity:  Construct, install, and maintain traffic signals and city-owned electrical systems across buildings, parks, docks, baseball diamonds, and playgrounds.  Tackle ornamental lighting systems and city fiber optic and copper voice communication systems with flair.
  • Uncover Hidden Pathways:  Locate underground electrical and communication systems with precision. Ensure the safety of worksites with expertly placed barricades, warning devices, and equipment.
  • Be Data's Best Friend:  Collect crucial traffic data, maintain impeccable records, and generate insightful reports.
  • Go Beyond the Expected:  Perform manual labor and carpentry while taking on various other duties that keep our city electric.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Experience:  At least two years as a Licensed Journeyman Electrician.
  • Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.
  • License/Certification:
    • State of Wisconsin Journeyman Electrician
    • Class B CDL with no air brake restriction, or ability to obtain within six months of hire
  • Technical Mastery:  Comprehensive understanding of electrical methods, practices, and principles essential for installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • System Savvy:  Proficient with electrical signal and alarm systems, and aware of construction hazards and precautionary methods.
  • Detail-Driven:  Astute in reading and interpreting maps, plans, and capable of following detailed instructions.
  • Physical Prowess: Energetic and equipped to perform manual labor, willing to work at heights up to 75 feet.
  • Team Spirit:  A collaborative force that contributes to our division's common goals and ready to work unusual hours when required, including being on call.
