Community Outreach Coordinator -iAmerica Center

Job Title: Community Outreach Coordinator -AmeriCorps VISTA Member

Organization: iAMERICA Center

Location: 19445 W Warren Ave., Detroit, MI 48228

About the Organization:

iAMERICA Center supports the clinics in Michigan that work with persons who have no healthcare insurance or are under-insured with advocacy, networking, and mentoring.

The services at many of our clinics are free or with suggested fees: they are free but do take all insurance and may charge a very, very low fee. NO one is turned away because they cannot pay and all work with a significant number of volunteers. In 2021 there were about 10,000 nonreplicated patients with huge demand to partner with churches, schools, other nonprofits to advocate and education about substance abuse, suicide, overdose, and other mental health issues. There are about 65 free and charitable clinics across our state, yet we are the only one with multiple offices open 6 days a week.

If you have a passion for giving back to your community and program development, please apply.

VISTA Members will commit to a year of full-time of service to help organizations increase capacity to allow more individuals in poverty to be served.

AmeriCorps VISTA members receive a stipend of $877 bi-weekly stipend and an education award of $7,395 or a cash stipend of $1,800 upon completion of service.

Responsibilities to include:

1. Create a strategic Plan for all of the internal communications between the iAmerica center and Michigan’s free and charitable clinics.

4. Develop strategies for clinics to better communicate with the elected officials in their city/county/state.

5. Attend workshops on internal communication in non-profit organizations.
