Assistant Athletic Director, Annual Giving, Premium Seating, and Operations

Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director of Annual Giving, Premium Seating, and Operations is responsible for the creation and implementation of a comprehensive, collaborative, and sustainable annual giving/premium ticket sales and retention program for the Michigan Athletic Department. This includes the oversight and annual execution of efforts that generate donor count and revenue for Michigan Athletics Annual Giving programs, including Champions Fund/annual fund, scholarship, student-athlete enrichment, and sport specific funds. It will also include oversight of all premium sales for Michigan Athletics, to include Michigan Stadium, Crisler Center, and Yost Ice Arena. In addition, the Assistant Athletic Director will oversee the Development Operations team ensuring data health within all of our donor platforms and maintaining the highest level of data integrity and security.

 

Responsibilities

(30%) Oversight of Annual Giving Programs

  • Develop a strategic communication plan (e.g., cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship) for all annual giving donors and prospects.
  • Identify and solicit annual giving donors and prospects utilizing available mediums (e.g., print, electronic, phone, social media).
  • Collaborate with the Office of University Development and athletics teams (e.g., digital marketing, athletic communications, stewardship/events, ticket office, etc.) as necessary to move annual giving strategies forward.
  • Management of the Michigan Athletics Priority Point Program in collaboration with Development Operations team.
  • Identify annual giving donors with capacity and inclination to move up donor pipeline.
  • Serve as primary liaison from Michigan Athletics Development to University Annual Giving team.

(30%) Oversight of Premium Seating Programs

  • Oversee staffing and strategies to ensure all premium seating areas within all Michigan Athletics venues are fully subscribed and administered with superior efficiency and attention to customer service.
  • Effectively leverage premium seating assets to identify and engage donors and prospects.
  • Oversight of annual parking assignments (Football, Men's Basketball, Ice Hockey) to all annual giving donors.
  • Oversight of the annual football season ticket transfer process.
  • Serve as liaison on the operation of Premium Seating spaces with Facilities, Event Management, and Ticket departments.
  • Responsible for the game day operation and donor experience of all premium spaces including game day staffing and liaison efforts with Event Management, Food Service, and Ticket Office game day operations.


(15%) Oversight of Development Operations

  • Oversee the staffing and operations of the Development Operations team to ensure that the health of the data in the Paciolan and DART systems are being maintained, by performing ongoing data and process audits that secures and verifies data integrity.


(15%) Management of Support Staff and Programs

  • Manage the Director/Associate Director of Annual Giving Programs, Director of Premium Seating, and Associate Director of Development Operations. This includes providing leadership, setting and evaluating individual goals, developing and sustaining appropriate training, mentoring, and monitoring of primary focus area.
  • Build a high functioning annual giving/premium ticket sales/development operations team, providing staff with clear roles, responsibilities, accountabilities, mentoring, and support to be successful as a team.


(5%) Data Analysis

  • Establish key performance indicators for annual giving programs/ticket sales/development operations.
  • Create visual representations of annual giving programs/ premium ticket sales metrics to drive decision and strategy.
  • Bind metrics to measure the success of annual giving/premium ticket sales initiatives.
  • Summarize and report on annual giving/ticket sales activities to athletic department leadership.

(5%) General Administrative/Finance and Other

  • Meeting preparation and follow-up assistance with annual giving donors, premium ticket holders, prospects, student-athlete alumni, and within the campus community.
  • Maintain budget data including records of expenditures for ticket sales related expenditures.
  • Prepare p-card and hosting documentation and reconcile p-card statements monthly.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required or assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred) with a minimum of seven to ten years of experience working in a complex environment.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with ability to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate and advance strategic plans and programs that support the Athletic Department mission and contribute to the overall goals and objectives of the fundraising program.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with multiple patrons in a positive and productive manner while maintaining integrity and adhering to the compliance rules of the NCAA, Big Ten, and University of Michigan Athletic Department.
  • Strong commitment to the student-athlete experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external constituency groups and to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment.
  • Sound organizational ability, a high degree of energy, creativity, accountability, and initiative; the ability to project the unique aims and values of the University of Michigan and its donors and alumni.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and effectively determine when information needs to be advanced to other decision makers.
  • Must exhibit a high level of energy, enthusiasm, initiative and passion for providing outstanding customer service to Michigan Athletic patrons. Must possess and maintain the highest integrity and ethical standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet challenging and changing deadlines. Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment, with the ability to effectively adapt and be flexible.
  • Discretion and an ability to interact with high-level donors and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • High-level experience with social networking tools (such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.). Ability to develop and implement fundraising awareness and engagement within the applications.
