Fairview Area Schools is located in Oscoda County in beautiful northeast Michigan. Fairview is a community that not only supports their schools, but offers much for those who enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.  Located close to the Au Sable River and Huron National Forest, opportunities to enjoy hiking, kayaking, camping, and countless other activities are abundant.  

K-8 Principal

This position is responsible for the day-to-day discipline, safety, and welfare of approximately 230 elementary and middle school students in Fairview Area Schools, while working closely with administration, staff, students and their parents. The elementary/MS principal is responsible for the daily oversight of the building, while establishing a safe, pleasant and effective educational atmosphere by providing discipline and enforcing school policy. 

Position Requirements: 

A. MA in Educational Leadership or related area 

B. Michigan administrator certification (or willing to obtain) 

C. A minimum of five years successful K-8 teaching experience strongly preferred

D. Professional in personal conduct and action

E. Excellent communication skills 

F. Experience with special education

G. Ability to create a positive school culture amongst staff, students, and the community

Preferred Qualifications:

A. Experience with PBIS

B. Experience planning/leading professional development for staff

C. Experience with the Child Study process

D. Knowledge of the 5D+ teacher evaluation tool

E. Knowledge of PLC’s 

F. Experience interpreting data

Salary commensurate with experience.
