About the Organization:

The Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) sponsors VISTA projects in organizations throughout the State to empower low-income communities with nutritional and healthcare programs and support underserved youth to succeed in school and careers.

There are opportunities to serve in mentoring, education, health, and economic development organizations that support initiatives in education; youth voice in equity and social justice; nutritional education; environmental issues; assisting families with access to health resources,

AmeriCorps VISTA members receive a stipend of $877 bi-weekly stipend and an education award of $7,383 or cash stipend of $1,800 upon completion of service.

Qualifications:

·      Communicate effectively both oral and written; research, develop, present, and promote program to community, potential donors, and potential partners.

·      Ability to support planning, development, and establishment of new and established programs effectively and efficiently.

·      Strong organizational and project management skills, detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and serve with multiple projects.

·      Ability to work well within a team environment and record progress.

·      Strong interests in volunteer service.

·      Understanding of grant compliance.

·      Able to serve full-time with 37.5 hours a week.
