Intern Psychometry Technician

What Will You Do

Successful applicants will become members of the Pine Rest Psychological Consultation Center (PCC) in a "clinical intern" capacity. The PCC is a group of Psychologists and supporting staff who conduct a wide variety of psychological assessment and consultation with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. In this undergraduate internship, interns will work with PCC clients administering and scoring testing protocol primarily for those suspected of having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This work is supervised through individualized instruction and interns will be given opportunities to further study areas related to their work with the clients and to observe Psychologists in their other daily work.

By the end of this unpaid field experience, interns will have administered a number of psychological tests to a wide age-range of clients and will better understand the fundamental elements of psychological testing and measurement. Interns will also have the opportunity to work closely with practicing Psychologists including involvement in psychological consultations and evaluations within the clinical setting.

Commitment

We require a four (4) month commitment for eight (8) to twelve (12) hours per week minimum (minimum total hours required is 130). Hours required per week must be worked in full days, up to eight (8) working hours (8:00 am – 5:00 pm). In certain circumstances, we may consider half days of no less than five (5) hour time blocks of: 8:00 am – 1:00 pm or 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. We offer on-going volunteer internship positions available for various times of the year (please apply during the appropriate deadline associated to your desired internship commitment). What Does This Role Require?

  • Undergraduate Psychology Major required.
  • We will not accept MA level applicants for this internship - this is an undergrad internship only.
  • Lower-level courses in psychology required, Upper level courses required in abnormal, development, statistics, & research are also required. Courses in testing, psychological consultation, and/or personality are preferred.
  • A Senior or Junior level standing is required, we may also consider individuals who have recently (not more than 6 months generally) completed and graduated with their undergraduate degree in Psychology.
