Be part of our mission to fight climate change and lower global methane emissions with cutting-edge technologies. CARB's Research Division seeks a Communication Coordinator to facilitate engagement and collaboration for the Integrated Measurements of Air Pollution Section (IMAPS). This role focuses on communicating the impact and progress of our methane reduction efforts using innovative technologies like satellite and ground-based measurements, particularly through California Methane Research Program, including collaborating with internal stakeholders, other state agencies, air districts, communities, and subnational partners as part of the Subnational Methane Action Coalition.

The selected candidate will:

• Work with partner agencies within the State to reduce methane emissions using CARB’s satellite data. This involves crafting tailored outreach strategies, establishing and maintaining connections, and collaborating with Research Division management and CARB’s executive office.

• Coordinate with CARB’s international liaison to share our findings with subnational jurisdictions as part of the subnational methane action coalition and promote the use of satellite methane data. This may involve working directly with subnational jurisdictions to understand their level of readiness for implementing a satellite methane mitigation project similar to CARB’s.

• Coordinate internal efforts to engage with communities prioritized in California.

• Report on the utilization of satellite data in statewide programs and share successes with other regions.

• Offer technical guidance and assistance to subnational entities implementing methane satellite projects.

• Conduct technical analysis of methane data, both in California and beyond, including data organization, trend analysis, and data interpretation.

Candidates should have strong project management skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have led significant environmental initiatives, preferably related to greenhouse gas reduction. Familiarity with methane-related policies and regulations, both in California and elsewhere, is essential. Additionally, candidates should possess technical data analysis skills and be adept at presenting complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
