Position:  Technology Support Technician - Levels I and II
Location:  District
Pay Rate:  Level I: $26.51 per hour
                  Level II: $29.33 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 12-month position (260 contract days), 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week, based upon district-approved calendar

Job Summary: 
The Technology Support Technician is a member of DASD’s Technology Division. This division is split into four separate teams:

  • Data & Applications
  • Network & Security
  • Systems & Support
  • Media & Educational Technology

 
As a key member of the Systems & Support team, this position is responsible for working with students and school district staff to deliver customer support services including installation, troubleshooting, user assistance, and training. Technology Support Technicians install, configure, and prepare desktops, laptops, tablets, software, printers, networks, and peripheral equipment.
 
The ideal candidate will have excellent problem solving and diagnostic skills, be a self-starter, be highly motivated, and have demonstrated proficiency and experience in the qualifications mentioned below. Additionally, this position will be flexible to step outside of their assigned duties and responsibilities to work on special projects to advance departmental and/or organizational goals. Strong attention to detail, adherence to policies and procedures, effective communication, thorough documentation skills are necessary for success. Candidates’ technical skills will be challenged in this dynamic environment, and there are opportunities for growth and professional advancement within the division. All applicants must have the ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary.

QualificationsTo successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.  The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skills and/or ability necessary.

Level I:

  • Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or related field of study or equivalent knowledge
  • Current CompTIA A+ certification must be obtained within 6 months after employment. Grandfathered certifications cannot be honored.
  • Vendor relevant certification(s) to be obtained within 1 month after employment, as necessary
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements
  • Employee must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment

Level II:

  • Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or related field of study or equivalent knowledge
  • Certifications required*:
    1. Current CompTIA A+ certification
    2. Vendor relevant certification(s) to be obtained within 1 month after employment
    3. At least one or more of an approved industry professional certification, such as CompTIA Network+, Apple Certified Support Professional, Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), Google IT Support Certificate.
      1. *All certifications must be current within the past 3 years and must not have expired. Grandfathered certifications cannot be honored.
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements
  • Employee must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment


Duties & Responsibilities: Employee must have the ability to perform the following essential functions on a timely basis with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Supports students, teachers, administrators, and support staff by providing end-user support, and individual assistance with procedural, hardware and software issues and skills development
  • Effectively uses Service Desk to meet customer service support needs
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software and network problems throughout the district
  • Delivers, unpacks, configures, prepares and installs desktop, laptop, tablet, printer and peripheral equipment
  • Troubleshoots, installs, terminates, and tests network and peripheral equipment cabling
  • Installs software as per district procedures and vendor licensing agreements
  • Previews and evaluates hardware and software
  • Effectively uses new and existing equipment and software
  • Maintains ability to read blueprints and schematic diagrams
  • Maintains documentation as assigned by the supervisor
  • Remains current and maintains certifications necessary for the completion of job-related needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology

Eligibility - No Waiting Period

New Hires or Newly Eligible
You have 31 days from the date that you are benefit eligible to make your elections. If you do not make elections during this time, you will only be enrolled into any benefit that is provided by the District at no cost to you.

Life Benefit
Pays 1 x your basic annual salary up to maximum of $60,000

Income Protection Benefit
Pays 60% of your basic monthly pay, up to $1,500 per month

Paid Time Off

  • 12 sick days annually
  • 3 personal days annually
  • 10 vacation days annually; 1 additional day per year after 5 years of employment up to a maximum of 20 days per year.
  • 19 paid holidays per year

Tuition Reimbursement
75% of tuition if grade of ‘B’ or better is attained; limit 12 credits per year.

Salary Increases
Minimum of 3.3% per year
