The Grants Intern provides grant writing and non-profit management experience by working with the Mission Advancement team at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. Mission Advancement supports fundraising efforts including grants, annual campaign, corporate sponsorships, data collection, special projects, and events that build financial support for YMCA youth development and healthy living programs. This is a fall internship, specific dates can be flexible based on school schedule/program requirements. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with grant proposal and report writing
  • Research data to use in grants or other fundraising efforts
  • Assist with data entry for community-based programs
  • Assist with annual campaign and fundraising events

Scope:

  • Work directly with the seven-member Mission Advancement team
  • Approximately 10-20 hours per week (flexible depending on schedule and school internship requirements)
  • Office is open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and located at the David D. Hunting Branch in Downtown Grand Rapids

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional appearance and attitude
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications
  • Enthusiastic about new opportunities and working in a mission-driven environment
  • An unpaid internship but college credit may apply
