Sr. Research Associate

Overview

The candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team of research scientists to investigate therapeutics for the treatment of inflammatory or autoimmune diseases. Specifically, the candidate will support the development and optimization of pre-clinical and clinical assays for neutrophil-mediated diseases by assisting with cell culture, in vitro and ex vivo assays, and molecular biology assays.

Responsibilities

  • Culture primary cells and continuous cell lines such as neutrophils or hematopoietic stem cells, and/or other relevant cell lines to support in vitro/ex vivo experiments. 
  • Prepare and maintain a constant supply of reagents, buffers, and other materials to support pre-clinical and clinical assays. 
  • Perform in vitro assays, including enzymatic assays, ELISA, and Luminex multiplex immunoassays. 
  • Conduct molecular biology techniques such as Western Blot, PCR, and qPCR. 
  • Utilize plate-readers, cellular imaging-based instruments, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry. 
  • Support in vivo studies, including formulation preparation, and processing and analyzing ex vivo samples. 
  • Perform data and statistical analyses using Excel, XLfit, GraphPad Prism, and FlowJo. 
  • Assist with literature reviews to support various programs. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of experimental procedures and results in electronic notebooks, and generate internal technical reports as needed. 
  • Summarize experimental results and present scientific findings at both internal and external research meetings.  
  • Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment. 
  • Contribute as a co-author to scientific journal publications.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related discipline with at least 2 years of work experience. 
  • Hands-on experience with cell culture and aseptic techniques is required. 
  • Experience working with immune cells, hematopoietic stem cells, and cancer cells is a plus. 
  • Proven experience with optimizing/developing standard molecular biology assays, including enzymatic assays and ELISAs, is required. 
  • PCR, qPCR, SDS-PAGE, and Western Blot is a plus. 
  • Experience working with clinical studies or samples is a strong plus. 
  • Experience working with in vivo studies or samples is a strong plus. 
  • Experience with data processing, analysis, statistics, and data interpretation is a required. 
  • Experience working with cellular imaging-based instrument, fluorescence microscope, or flow cytometer is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of cell biology immune-oncology, immunology, cancer biology is a plus. 
  • A high degree of organization and time management skills is required.  
  • A sense of enthusiasm and self-motivation is required. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills is required. 
  • Experience drafting and publishing academic articles is a plus. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a team environment is essential.

Salary Range

Insmed takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.

The base salary range for this job is from $68,000.00 to $90,467.00 per year
