Archival Project Intern - Ropeadope's 25th Anniversary

Archival Project Interns

Our 25th Anniversary plans include a new story-telling website that puts our history in context and aggregates all archival content in one place. This will be a groundbreaking new approach to web design and interaction that will change the way we view and use the internet. All data will be accessible via AI Chatbot, giving musicians and fans the ability to visualize connected data points and timelines, and to interact directly with Ropeadope history by framing their own questions and adding their experiences to the story.

Archival phase: Review digital files from 1999-2023 for relevance; adding dates, proper formats, and titles, and registering the data in multiple spreadsheets with proper fields to train AI. Reviewing physical artifacts and digitizing them in the same fashion. Excel/Airtable experience needed, familiarity with album credit and lyrics formatting a plus.

Building phase: Assisting web designer in loading data in proper form to the new site. Assessing effective story-telling layout and adjusting based on the variety and quantity of artifacts from the era. Web design experience is not necessary, though familiarity with readymade platforms and JSON is of help.

AI Phase: Coordinating data load in proper formats to site: training chatbot with selected prompts and responses. Researching other Chatbots for useful comparisons. Familiarity with OpenAI and JSON is necessary.

This is an unproven territory - applicants must be willing to dive in and make mistakes, learning on the fly. A successful internship will result in a powerful portfolio/resume piece showing proof of concept. Students must be able to receive academic credit for this unpaid learning opportunity.
