Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Psychologist III for the Kiley Developmental Center located in Waukegan, Illinois to serve as a team leader to designated interdisciplinary (ID) habilitation teams by assigning cases to other professionals, monitoring other professionals' work and providing guidance to other professionals. Integrates, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the implementation of Individual Program Plans. Provides psychological/behavioral services to assigned treatment teams.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Serves as a team leader to designated ID (Interdisciplinary) habilitation teams by assigning cases to other professionals, monitoring other professionals' work and providing guidance to other professionals.
  2. As the team leader of a designated professional treatment team, directs, monitors and evaluates the work of the team.
  3. Assumes responsibility for a caseload, including cases of an advanced complexity level.
  4. Provides guidance and direction to ID team members in the implementation of behavioral procedures to modify individual’s behavior.
  5. Serves as liaison with the consulting physician.
  6. Proposes initial medication reduction plan and participates in habilitation team efforts in monitoring progress of and revising medication reduction plans for individuals on psychotropic medication.
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to a doctoral degree in psychology from a recognized college or university supplemented by two (2) years’ professional psychology experience. For Candidates not possessing these qualifications, a master’s degree in psychology from a recognized college or university is a minimum requirement. If the minimum educational requirement is met, five (5) years’ qualifying professional psychology experience may be substituted for the doctoral degree in psychology and two (2) years’ experience.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
  2. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
  3. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  4. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  5. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  6. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Work Hours:  8:00am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday and 1 weekend per month;  1 late shift (12:00pm - 8:30pm) and 1 early shift (6:00am - 3:00pm) per month
