Duties of the position shall include emergency spill response which requires at a minimum: be available 24/7 in accordance with a predetermined on-call schedule to respond to petroleum and chemical spills, as required/directed. Provide oversight and prepare complete, accurate and detailed inspection reports, review investigation reports to determine cause and responsible parties. Prepare complete, accurate, and timely Investigative Summary Reports for cost recovery and testify in formal enforcement proceedings. Duties will also include management and oversight of investigation and cleanup projects in the State Superfund Program, Brownfield, Environmental Restoration Program, and Chemical and Bulk Storage Programs. Duties will involve interaction with remedial parties, property owners, the public and governmental agencies; oversight of remediation sites, remedial consultants, and contractors; review of site conditions and data to assess the nature and extent of site contamination, and evaluation of remedial alternatives and remedy selection; design and implementation of selected remedies and monitoring of remedy effectiveness. The candidate is expected to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and manage multiple projects simultaneously and under tight time schedules.
