Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, analytical, and results-oriented individual to serve as Staff Assistant to the Chief Learning Officer of the Office of Learning and Professional Development. Under direction, this position will serve as a liaison with internal staff, contractors, external stakeholders, and other Departmental divisions, including the Offices of the Chief of Staff, Director, and Governor, to provide technical assistance in the resolution of any issue which involves OLPD operations and to achieve program objectives. The position will also handle assigned special projects, schedule and coordinate meetings, and represent the Chief Learning Officer/Deputy Director, as assigned. Job Responsibilities

1.  Serves as Staff Assistant

2.  Serves as a liaison between the Chief Learning Officer and other administrative and support staff throughout the agency and in other agencies and organizations, such as the Offices of the Chief of Staff, Director, Governor and contracted partners

3.  Serves as the budget coordinator for programs within the Chief Learning Officer’s areas of oversight

4.  Utilizes knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations, as well as best practice standards, analytical and project management skills, and proficiency in the use of supportive information technology to coordinate and perform special projects related to division programs, which require interaction with executive and administrative staff, community service providers, elected officials, and the general public

5.  Arranges and organizes staff and management meetings

6.  Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

1.  Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration

2.  Requires two years of professional experience in a public or private organization

2.  Requires ability to pass a DCFS background check

Work Hours:  Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
