ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.

What you will do:

  • Oversee maintenance and repair of fish sampling equipment; vessels, vehicles, & trailers; and, the facilities at the Inland Fisheries Research Unit.
  • Provide work direction, technical guidance, and training to personnel (i.e., seasonal employees) assigned to the work unit.
  • Maintain equipment operation and maintenance logs; order and purchase equipment, parts, & supplies; and, complete inventory and fleet reports.
  • Conduct and assist others with field assessment and research surveys throughout Ohio’s inland waters; collect data and enters sampling outcomes into databases.
  • Participate in planning and provide information to the public.

Starting hourly pay of $22.02/hour with multiple pay increases over your first 7 years of service and an ending hourly pay of $27.84/hour.

Qualifications

 

Completion of associate core program in fisheries management AND 24 months of experience in conducting fish management surveys & data collection AND valid driver's license.

-OR completion of undergraduate core program in biological sciences to include 6 courses in fisheries science & 2 courses in statistics; (e.g., fisheries management, fishery techniques, limnology, ichthyology, fish biology, fish ecology, aquatic entomology) AND valid driver's license. 

-OR completion of undergraduate core program in fisheries science to include 2 courses in statistics AND valid driver's license.

-OR 24 months of experience as Fish Management Technician, 22221 AND valid driver's license. 

-OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
