Director of Primary Care
Position Summary
Upholds the mission of the organization by assuring the delivery of primary care that is evidenced-based, satisfying to patients, and cost-effective; promotes a fiscally sound organization.
Essential Duties and Functions
Quality of Care:
- Facilitates dialog and communication in order to fulfill goals.
- Provides evidence-based primary care directly to patients carrying out all responsibilities as outlined in the job description of CRNP, including adherence to Clinical Practice.
- Ensures staff in the Primary Care Department receive best practice updates and trainings specific to their roles and skill levels.
- Responds to new trends in healthcare and opportunities for service expansion as feasible and when benefitting the community’s needs.
- Manages Primary Care Population Health management
Guidelines and Productivity Standards:
- Responsible for hire, orientation, evaluation, and termination of all Nurse Practitioner and RN staff.
- Responsible for Nurse Practitioner office coverage and on-call scheduling.
- Responsible for site level FTE balance and empanelment for Nurse Practitioners.
- Disseminates clinical practice information to Nurse Practitioners, Practice Managers,and Medical Assistants.
- Acts as liaison and partner to Operations Director concerning OSHA, FTCA, and other governing regulations relative to Primary Care services.
- Facilitates monthly NP meetings, PM meetings biweekly in conjunction with Associate Director of Primary Care, and Care Management meetings monthly.
- Assures that primary care meetings are held at other sites at least monthly
- Acts as liaison to Operations Director concerning the functioning and evaluation of front desk staff.
- Oversees CQI Committee: assures that primary care is monitored for adherence to Clinical Standards and addresses deficits.
- Provides oversight of medication supplies, inventory, and utilization.
Administrative:
- Serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
- Assures that the centers uphold requirements of partnered organizations such as The Family Planning Council, Reach Out and Read, Health Federation
- Ensures compliance with the Vaccines for Children program including training of staff, coordination of audits, and oversight of improvement plans for each site
- Ensures compliance with the Access Matters program including training of staff, coordination of site visits, and adherence to counseling and prescribing guidelines
- Collaborates with Network Executive Director in relation to fostering new partnerships with organizations that will result in improved services for patients
Supervision of Staff:
- Direct supervision of all RNs and CRNPs; conducts monthly reflective supervision sessions, performs formal review annually.
- Assigns Lead NP to each site and delegates responsibilities as outlined in job description.
- Collaborates with Operations Director, Associate Director of Primary Care and CFO concerning performance of front desk staff.
Fiscal Soundness:
- Sets productivity standards in collaboration with Network Executive Director.
- Interfaces with administrative staff concerning the creation and dissemination of Nurse Practitioner productivity reports at least quarterly, addresses deficits.
- Ensures staff are adequately trained on billing and coding procedures, assessed and updated at least twice yearly.
- Liaisons with all payors in communication with CFO and Billing Department, represents FPCN at all PCMH regional meetings
- Manages departmental budgets in conjunction with site leadership and CFO.
Qualifications
- 3 - 5 years of experience in management
- at least 5 years of practice as a Nurse Practitioner
- Experience working in a community-based organization a plus
- Commitment to serve underserved populations
- Current Pennsylvania state RN license
- Current Pennsylvania CRNP license
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or a Management field
- Current CPR Certification
- COVID Vaccination
