Nonprofit Intern-Fall 2024

Position Overview Jersey Cares is seeking a highly energetic individual interested in acquiring workforce development skills (project management, leadership, communications, etc.) and acquiring work experience through an internship at a local New Jersey nonprofit organization. The individual will support day-to-day operational aspects of a project/s and its full scope of deliverables. This position provides real responsibility in a fast-paced and results-driven nonprofit organization. This is the perfect opportunity for someone with a self-starting, proactive attitude; one who has a proven ability to focus and see tasks through to completion while committed to improving the lives of others. This is a hybrid position, working both remote and/or in-office. 

*Interns will receive a $250 stipend upon completion of the 12 week (120 hours) program, if available. This will be communicated prior to accepting a position.

Intern responsibilities can be in the areas of: 

Program Management & Development

  • Program & Project Management
  • Creating and executing project work plans and revising as appropriate to meet changing needs
  • Following up with clients, when necessary, regarding commitments
  • Developing and supporting programs in various impact areas (i.e. youth development, aging populations, hunger, environment, homelessness, economic opportunity)
  • Conducting outreach to engage communities
  • Data Analytics - Collection, Analysis & Reporting
  • Measure the impact of interventions on outcomes
  • Analyze data and provide real-time solutions to improve performance
  • Use google analytics to understand which campaigns drive the most website traffic

 Finance & Fundraising

  • Research funding opportunities
  • Develop online funding campaigns that motivate donors to act
  • Assist with program budget, labor tracking and expense reporting system

 Communications & Advocacy

  • Developing and implementing social media strategies for maximum engagement across platforms (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
  • Writing and editing regular blog posts related to programs and external issues or areas of interest
  • Assisting in the creation of media and film to engage visitors to nonprofit website and volunteer portals

Requirements

The interested intern should be a resident of the New Jersey area, between the ages of 16-24. Participants must also provide 120 hours of service, attend 2 professional development workshops, and create a presentation detailing their internships for Demonstration Day. 

  • Must be a New Jersey Resident
  • A strong commitment to people-oriented solutions and community needs
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • A strong work ethic --understanding that being on-time is being 10 minutes early
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • An ability to think creatively and handle multiple tasks at the same time
  • Some experience writing across social media platforms preferred
