Special Education Teacher
This is a full-time, on-site, salaried position with a 151-day contract period from July 29, 2024 - May 22, 2025. Additional off-contract days are paid for professional development activities. Staff report Monday - Thursday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, and for Friday and evening events as required.
Under the supervision of the principal/superintendent, the special education teacher:
- utilizes the Beyond Textbooks framework to plan, organize, and implement an instructional program in conjunction with the regular education teachers that addresses the Arizona Academic Standards for students with disabilities;
- develops and maintains positive working relationships with students, families, and staff;
- assesses student learning and differentiates instruction accordingly;
- establishes and maintains an effective classroom management system;
- provides supervision and direction for special education paraprofessional;
- remains knowledgeable of special education laws and regulations;
- leads student IEP teams;
- maintains all special education paperwork;
- communicates effectively orally and in writing;
- integrates relevant technologies into the learning environment;
- participates and grows from instructional coaching and other professional learning opportunities;
- serves as an adult mentor in our RCA House system;
- performs all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
Position Requirements
- Passion for facilitating learning and growth for students with disabilities
- Bachelor's degree or above in elementary and/or special education or related field from an accredited institution
- Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
