Public Health Educator

Seeking a full-time organized, detailed oriented, pragmatic, and collaborative Public Health Educator to join the community health team based in our Mecosta County Office.

 

General Responsibilities

 

  • Under general supervision, the health educator will provide front line community and school engagement for healthy lifestyles emphasizing youth risk reduction with an emphasis on substance abuse prevention including in-school prevention education.
  • Additionally, works to prevent the spread of CoVid-19 infections in schools by providing health and wellness education services/sessions for students and the school community.
  • Programming includes evidence-based community education and outreach specific to substance use prevention and general health education outreach and programming.
  • Provides outreach and education across multiple counties.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health education or public health related degree.
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) certification preferred or ability to acquire. 
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong written & oral communication & strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to engage with diverse groups and work with key community stakeholders is required.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, instruct, and educate clients and the community.
  • Experience in community level programming or collaborative partnership work preferred.
