School Psychologist

School Psychologist

 

Position Summary:

The districtwide School Psychologist will work with the Director of Special Education and the Superintendent to provide support services to students and help with staff trainings. Assists regular education instructional staff in developing and implementing pre-assessment and informal intervention strategies for referred students. Assists in training and supporting support staff members who work directly with the special education students. This is a grant funded position.

 

Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Participates in staff and family training activities
  • Participate in school and district crisis team meetings
  • Participate in school SAP meetings
  • Participate in de-escalation and restraint trainings
  • Participate in MTSS meetings, help track MTSS progress, offer check in/check out services and other interventions
  • Assist in training and supporting support staff
  • Facilitate trainings with staff to manage and prevent crisis situations
  • Submit time sheets in a timely fashion
  • Help develop a trauma-informed approach plan
  • Participate in a Student Assistance and Behavioral Health Support Assessment
  • Help develop, facilitate, and analyze a school climate survey

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • the basic principles of child and adolescent psychology and related behavioral sciences.
    • the application of psychology to individual and group behavior.
    • psychological techniques employed in the modification of human behavior.
    • the principles and techniques of administering, scoring and interpreting psychological and educational tests.
    • general referral techniques.
    • federal and state laws pertaining to the delivery of psychological services to school age children,
  • provide consultative services to teachers, students, and parents.
  • prepare clear and concise reports.
  • communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree program from an accredited college or university
  • Successful completion of a school psychologist internship in the duration of Master's program
  • Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certificate to act as a School Psychologist.

Pre-employment Paperwork Requirements:

  • Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, FBI fingerprinting Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
  • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (ACT 168)
  • School Personnel Health Record and TB test

Working Conditions:

  • Work schedule hours on a consistent basis
  • Indoor office environment is subject to frequent interruptions
  • Pushing, moving and lifting objects with a strength factor of light work
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of standard office equipment
  • Clarity of vision at varying distances
  • Verbal, auditory and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
  • Sitting and standing for extended periods of time
  • Frequent sitting, standing and walking
  • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies
  • Occasional kneeling, crouching and squatting
  • Occasional bending, reaching and stretching
  • Occasional pulling, pushing

Level of Compensation: Dependent on Step and Track placement as determined based on collective bargaining agreements
