HR Intern

McLaren Macomb is a 288-bed acute care hospital located in Mount Clemens, Mich. More than 400 physicians and nearly 2,000 employees work at McLaren Macomb making it one of Macomb County’s top employers. McLaren Macomb provides a full range of services, including cancer, surgical services, orthopedics and cardiovascular care. As Macomb County’s first verified trauma center, the hospital operates the busiest emergency department in Macomb County. 

What we are looking for:

McLaren Macomb is looking for an HR Intern to join our Human Resources team (10 team members) in Clinton Township, MI. While concentrating primarily on onboarding New Hires, the intern will broaden their understanding of various Human Resources functions by shadowing team members in areas including talent acquisition, employee relations, and HRIS. 

What you will be doing:

  • Onboarding - meeting with new hires and gathering all necessary paperwork.
  • Creating personal files and maintaining proper paperwork/documentation.
  • I9 verification and background checks.
  • Verification of employment.
  • Provide information to employees (via email, phone, or office visit) requiring knowledge of and adherence to established HR policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for tracking performance evaluations, licenses, certification, registrations.
  • Assist with job postings and screening resumes.
  • Clerical support to HR generalist.

What you will bring to the table:

  • Availability to work a minimum of 4 days a week (32 to 40 hours a week – Monday through Friday – 8am to 4:30pm).
  • Technical savviness in using an applicant tracking system and HRIS system.
  • Intermediate proficiency in using MS Excel and MS PowerPoint to create and manipulate spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
