Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
Job Summary:
Provides assessment and goal oriented treatment for rehabilitation and/or modification of specific physical, mental, emotional or social behaviors.
Position supports both in-patient and out-patient addiction patients through group sessions.
Key Position Details:
- Main schedule during the week with some occasional weekend work

Job Description:
Principle Responsibilities
- Provide therapeutic recreation.
- Plan, review and revise programs according to patient needs and professional trends in therapeutic recreation.
- Develop and teach treatment programs to meet patient needs. Examples may include Tai Chi Chih, goal setting, community groups, aquatics etc.
- Provide adequate supplies for patient treatment.
- Maintain safety of patient and staff.
- Clean and organize treatment space.
- Document patient treatment goals and progress.
- Provide leisure and community resources to patients.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary communication.
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and goal setting.
- Convey observations and changes to the team.
- Participate in problem solving with regard to treatment planning.
- Provide student education and evaluation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Recreational and Leisure studies with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation required
- 0 to 2 years in a clinical specialty area or completion of a student internship in comparable setting required
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists - National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification required
- American Red Cross Lifeguard training if position supports aquatic programs required
