Fall 2024 Intern

Title: Project Support Intern

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours8-12 hours a week for 12 weeks

Compensation: Unpaid Internship

Details:  This is an in-person position at our office in Grand Rapids with some availability to work from home. This position begins in early September and ends in December (start and end dates are flexible). If course credit is desired for this role, it is the student’s responsibility to obtain approval from their school.

 

Organization Overview

  • Mission: To enhance independence through access to mobility equipment.

Operating for over 30 years in West Michigan, Renew Mobility helps clients with financial or insurance-based barriers get access to durable medical equipment. Position Overview: This internship is an educational opportunity to prepare students for a career in the non-profit sector. You will spend 12 weeks working alongside non-profit professionals to complete various projects that are essential for the maintenance and growth of non-profits. Project areas may include grant and market research, community engagement, fundraising, data analysis, and networking.  All these activities fit within our broader effort to serve more community members with disabilities by providing them with durable medical equipment. 

 

Required Qualifications
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree

• Strong research and writing skills
• Sensitive and respectful of personal information and confidentiality issues
• Willing to serve as an ambassador for Renew Mobility’s mission
• Tech savvy in MS Office, Google Docs, Excel
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills
• Detail-oriented and efficient

 

Preferred Qualifications
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in: Non-profit management, Business, Public Administration, Communications, Occupational/Physical Therapy, or a related field.
• Experience using Salesforce
• Familiarity with Grant Writing Process
• Knowledgeable of various types of mobility equipment, their functions, and how to maintain    equipment in a safe and reliable manner
• Passion for understanding how things work

Intern Responsibilities
• Complete assigned projects within the discussed timeframe

• Report directly to the Executive Director regarding updates on assigned projects
• Perform clerical duties, take memos, maintain files, and organize documents; photocopy, fax, etc. as needed
• Maintain a neat and orderly office setting
• Assist staff in performing community outreach to establish relationships and expand awareness and understanding of Renew Mobility’s mission
• Manage databases and input information, data, and records as needed
• Assist in preparing information and research materials; create and maintain PowerPoint presentations
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
• Must possess excellent communication skills
• Ability to perform duties independently, with minimum need for direct supervision
• Ability to perform manual tasks that require the use of fine muscle motor skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push wheeled items weighing up to 300 pounds.
