Head Girls Volleyball Coach

Job Description
Job Title: Head Girls Volleyball Coach, Fordson High School
Reports To: Principal/Athletic Director
Salary: $6680.00
Calendar: approx. August 1 – November 10 (all coaching positions are posted annually)
Summary: This position is responsible for all assigned duties and coaching as well as providing
instruction to student-athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as
an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in Volleyball and academic
success in the classroom.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Follows and maintains knowledge of all Dearborn Public Schools policies and procedures.
2. Exhibits loyalty to Volleyball and other Fordson High School sports programs.
3. Teaches and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team
achievement in Volleyball.
4. Plans and sets up team activities, practices, and matches.
5. Respects times allotted to Volleyball practices and matches.
6. Respects times allotted to Volleyball conditioning and weight training activities.
7. Adheres to financial policies of the Dearborn Public Schools in regard to the collection and
disbursement of money, expenses, receipts, and equipment.
8. Maintains necessary records (including athletic physicals) and completes required paperwork in
a specified time and manner.
9. Travels with student-athletes on the team bus both to and from matches.
10. Enforces discipline policies and emphasizes good sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles.
11. Supervises student-athletes in locker rooms at home and away meets and ensures appropriate
behavior. Supervises student-athletes after matches and practices until safe passage home is
assured.
12. Checks and secures all offices, storage rooms, outside doors, locker rooms, and all lights after
the last player leaves after matches and practices.
13. Ensures that appropriate rules and regulations regarding the conduct and eligibility of student-
athletes are explained and followed.
14. Maintains a safe environment and facilities for student-athletes at all times.
15. Ensures that medical and safety requirements are followed.
16. Interacts professionally and courteously with student-athletes, staff, parents, fellow coaches,
and game officials and resolves conflicts in a professional manner.
17. Appropriately maintains and secures confidential student records and inquiries.
18. Professionally represents the school community and the Dearborn Public Schools in interactions
with student-athletes, parents, community members, staff, and the media.
19. Completes and maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required, including
CPR and NFHS Concussion Certification, Heat and Hydration Training, MHSAA rules meetings,
CAP training, and additional professional development where required.
20. Complies with applicable Dearborn Public Schools, state, local, and federal laws, rules, and
regulations.
21. Attends work regularly and displays punctuality.
