Job Description And Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one permanent, full-time Information Technology Specialist II position in the Information Technology Division. Position to be located in the Sacramento office.This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions in DFPI within the next 180 days.

Serve as the lead in the area of Azure/AVS, VMware virtualization, Palo Alto Firewall and HP Aruba administrator. Integrate current and future technologies with the existing Enterprise IT Infrastructure to support the business of the DFPI. Serve as project lead, troubleshoot, document, and conduct thorough analysis on the most complex enterprise information technology (IT) systems and projects. Provides Level 3 network support for the Enterprise network infrastructure including Palo Alto Firewalls, HP switches, VMware VeloCloud SD-WAN, VPN connections, Wi-Fi access points, IPS, APC UPS units, DMZ security applications and other various devices. Manages switches and their VLANs to ensure appropriate subnets and port assignments. Reallocates network resources as necessary to ensure network operation is at maximum.

Minimum Qualifications

One year as an Information Technology Specialist I; or

Five years of information technology experience, one year of which shall include experience in a lead or expert capacity performing a variety of progressively responsible technical or analytical tasks for computer systems or services in one or more of the major six domains or a closely related or emerging information technology field.

A bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for four years of the required general information technology experience. An associate's degree from an accredited college may substitute for two years of the required general information technology experience. Only one degree may be used for substitution.

When using education to meet minimum qualifications, education must include 15 semester units (or 22.5 quarter units) of information technology or closely related course work.
