Job Title: Accounting Clerk

Department: Finance & Accounting

Reports To: Controller, President, CEO

Prepared By: General Sports Baseball, LLC

Location: Position will work both at USPBL headquarters in Rochester, Michigan and at Jimmy John's Field in Utica, Michigan.

SUMMARY

The United Shore Professional Baseball League is looking for a recent college graduate with background in accounting who is specifically interested in building a career in sports. The position requires work in person both in the league offices in Rochester, MI and at league baseball games at Jimmy John's Field in Utica, MI. The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for working with the Director of Finance and the Controller in the smooth operation of accounting and related functions. Responsibilities include coordination and executing operations related to financials, reporting, inventory, and other matters of significance. Provides finance office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks where needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Daily Activities:

  • Cash Receipts posted on a daily basis. Includes bank deposits, credit card receipts.
  • Daily reconciliation of bank activity - Assures cash balance in Quickbooks is always up to date and accurate.
  • Daily posting of Accounts Payable invoices.
  • Daily posting of new Accounts Receivable (information to be pulled from CRM tool)
  • Daily creation of new invoices for new Accounts Receivable.
  • Assistance with Accounts Receivable collections as requested by management.
  • Daily processing of Purchase Orders and requisitions for Purchase Orders.
  • Daily posting of Ballpark Cash operations.
  • Assist during baseball season to handle cash operations for league baseball games at Jimmy John's Field.

Monthly Activities:

  • Reconciliation of A/P ledger by the 7th of each month.
  • Reconciliation of A/R ledger by the 4th of each month.
  • Participate in activities necessary for monthly close of financials.

Annual Activities:

  • Assist with post-season financial analysis of all operations.
  • Participate in budgeting process for next calendar year.
  • Assist with gathering reports and data for outside accounting firm for annual financial statements and tax returns.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

COMPUTER SKILLS

Experience with Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn and adapt to new software with minimal training. QuickBooks experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret general business manuals and periodicals. Ability to write correspondence. High attention to detail and highly organized with deadline driven preparedness. Ability to speak effectively with employees, vendors, sponsors, supporters, and customers of the organization. Professional demeanor, dress, language, and conduct in all communication and interactions when representing the company.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to be on feet for long periods of time while working games. Ability to lift 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment includes the ability to work at the organization’s baseball games and events as needed and requested by the controller, president, and chief executive officer and the chief operation officer. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
