INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST
The Village of Elk Grove seeks an on-premises, full-time Information Systems (IS) Specialist in the Information Technology Division. The IS Specialist is responsible for help desk and end-user support, has efficient troubleshooting skills and technical expertise in computer hardware and software, and will be responsible for the installation, configuration, support, and maintenance of personal computers, printers, peripherals, mobile devices, and software applications as needed.
An integral part of the IT team and under the supervision of the Director of IT, the IS Specialist will maintain and improve the technical systems of the Village. The position will work with Network Engineers and System Administrator, assisting with various networking tasks, performing other duties required of the IT division and ensuring all employees have the technology they need to complete their work and the organization’s important files and information remain safe and intact.
As an entry-level position working with highly skilled IT team members, the IS Specialist will be exposed to all facets of the Village’s computing and networking environments, including police and fire vehicles, for an exciting opportunity for growth, learning new technologies, and expanding their skillset in the field of Information Technology.
Key Essential Functions:
- Providing responsive IT support for Village employees. This includes using the Village’s Help Desk system by phone, email, or walk-in.
- Provides ongoing support, deployment of images, and an annual refresh of PC environment (desktops, laptops, and tablets) and IOS/Android devices.
- Maintaining the security of the Village’s Active Directory environment (creating/deploying/updating/deleting user and email accounts, groups, and distribution lists).
- Assists with network administration by analyzing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. An Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, and/or CompTIA A+, Microsoft Fundamental, or field-related certifications are preferred. One to three years of progressive experience supporting an organization’s Help Desk, PC, printing, and mobile device environments and experience with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and PCs required. Any equivalent combination of experience, training, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be considered. Previous local/ municipal government experience is helpful.
Candidates must feel comfortable climbing a ladder, working in tight spaces, and lifting up to 35 lbs. The IS Specialist may participate in an after-hours on-call rotation or provide remote assistance outside of regular work hours.
HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 Hours/Week SALARY RANGE: $75,714.08 – $103,657.84 (DOQ)
