What We Need You To Do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest geologist in our Division of Materials and Waste Management at our Southeast District Office in Hocking County.

As geologist, you will work independently to review, evaluate, and prepare comments on ground water projects and hydrogeologic reports pertaining to existing and proposed Division of Materials and Waste Management (DMWM) facilities and sites for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.

You will perform ground water sampling and site inspections, as assigned, to evaluate compliance with Ohio’s solid waste and construction and demolition debris laws and regulations, while also performing ground water inspections at solid waste and construction and demolition facilities and conduct complaint investigations to evaluate compliance with state regulations and approved permits in adherence with Agency and division policies and procedures.

As geologist, you will participate on Agency and division technical workgroups, as well as enforcement cases as a technical expert. You will provide technical assistance to boards of health, municipal officials, county commissioners, township trustees, engineers, and others regarding solid, construction and demolition debris, scrap tire and infectious waste management.

  • Work independently to review technical reports, evaluate and prepare comments on ground water projects and hydrogeologic reports pertaining to existing and proposed Division of Materials and Waste Management facilities and sites for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Make recommendations to ensure adequate ground water protection and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Prepare technical documents concerning hydrogeologic conditions of disposal facilities and sites concerning protection of ground water quality. 
  • Perform ground water sampling and site inspections to evaluate compliance with Ohio’s solid waste and construction demolition debris laws and regulations.
  • Plan and develop strategies for brining about compliance including the development of enforcement referrals.
  • Provide technical assistance to boards of health, municipal officials, county commissioners, township trustees, engineers, and others regarding solid, construction and demolition debris, scrap tire, and infectious waste managements.
