QUALIFICATIONS: Michigan Teacher Certification JQ/JX
Highly Qualified as defined by NCLB
RECOMMENDED: Five (5) or more years as Director of Bands
Experience working with Grades 5 through 12
PAY/BENEFITS: Per negotiated contract

DESCRIPTION: CONCERT BAND TEACHING / DIRECTOR OF BAND
Manistee Area Public Schools has a proud tradition of quality music instruction and excellence in performance. Approximately 26% of students are in the band program with active participation in concerts, parades, festivals, and solo/ensemble. Strong parent support enables Manistee to host district and state MSBOA Festivals, and provide scholarships for summer music camps as well as instruments, music and uniforms. Solo & ensemble participation among the students is high from 7th grade through 12th grade, with a tradition of an “in-house” 6th grade solo event. Several yearly concerts are traditional, as well as participation in honors band events around the state.
Programs:
- HS Band includes both concert and marching band, during class time.
- HS Jazz Band (traditionally before school, one day per week, noncredit granting)
- Strong tradition of Chamber Music at High School Level
- MSBOA Festivals
- MSBOA Solo & Ensemble Festivals
- Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Sleighbell parades
