Dermatology Medical Assistant
Position Description;
Full time dermatology medical assistant. Our medical assistants receive onsite medical assistant training and do hands-on medical care in all aspects of clinical dermatology (medical, surgical, cosmetic). Excellent opportunity for Pre-Med, Pre-P.A. or pre-R.N. student to obtain clinical experience and to obtain recommendations from Northwestern University and University of Illinois faculty physicians when applying to professional school. Most medical assistants have also been given the chance to participate in clinical research and to co-author at least one peer-reviewed journal publication. 2-year commitment required.
Responsibilities;
- Take patient’s medical history and write medical chart notes
- Assist with patient education
- Assist in surgical procedures (including phlebotomy and injections)
- Assist in cosmetic procedures
- Assist with clinical research
- Call patients to discuss laboratory and biopsy results; write prescription refills
- Sterilize surgical instruments; prepare exam rooms
Requirements;
- Bachelor degree (preferably B.S.): pre-Med, pre- P.A. or pre-R.N. ideally
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well with physicians and anticipate their needs
- Well-organized with attention to detail
- Treats patients and coworkers with respect
- Ability to work as a team player
