Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Regional Administrator for Central Region Permanency.  This position will plan and coordinate service delivery with the Deputy Director and other Executive offices of the Department and will serve as principal policy formulating administrator for the region.  The position also plans, develops, and manages regional child welfare services and reviews and monitors program activities.  This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about children and interested in being a leader in the administration of child welfare services.  DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organizational skills and strong leadership skills.  We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.

Essential Functions

  1. Serves as Regional Administrator.
  2. Serves as full line supervisor of subordinate supervisory staff.
  3. Manages and controls permanency and comprehensive service delivery programs within the region.
  4. Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with social services, health care, law enforcement, private agencies, and other human service organizations in the region.
  5. Represents the Director and the Department to the community and press, public officials, governmental and private agencies, welfare councils, and civic organizations.
  6. Serves as a member of the Director’s expanded Executive Council for recommending changes in legislation, policies, and procedures to improve statewide administration as required by the Director, Deputy Director, or Chief Deputy Director.
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires an MSW or master’s degree in a related human services field, in business administration, or a juris doctorate.

2. Requires four years of supervisory and management experience in human services with an MSW or five years of supervisory and management experience in human services with a master’s degree in a related human services field, in business administration, or a juris doctorate.

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

1. Six years of experience supervising professional staff.

2. Four years of professional experience in the oversight of a large program with multiple sites or multiple teams of subordinate professional staff

3.  Six years of experience managing or conducting child welfare services.

4. Professional experience in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

5. Professional experience conducting planning activities for a social work program on a regional or statewide basis in a management capacity.

6. Professional experience conducting community outreach as a representative of a public or business organization.

Work Hours:  Monday-Friday 8:30AM- 5:00PM
