This position serves as an End User Computing Specialist performing difficult and specialized professional functions in End User Computing (EUC) for assigned agencies. 

In this role you will perform configuration, testing, implementation, documentation and maintenance of desktop/laptop Microsoft Operating Systems. 

In addition, you will provide leadership to assigned technicians in complex desktop imaging functions.

Essential Functions

30%  Under general direction, serves as an EUC Information Systems Analyst I performing difficult and specialized professional functions in End User Computing (EUC) for assigned agencies:

  • Coordinates the receipt, storage, and assignment of bulk personal computer (PC) equipment at EUC.
  • Serves as an operational liaison to EUC Service Management in accordance with customer order priorities.
  • Manages alignment of imaging requests and equipment.
  • Monitors records to ensure accurate completion and distribution of associated documentation and Image Management system records.
  • Monitors and maintains EUC Deployment Schedule to regulate imaging queues and consults imaging technicians to ensure readiness of equipment for transport and/or installation.
  • Provides ongoing assessment and recommendation to operations leads on pertinent operational process/procedure.

 

20%  Performs configuration, testing, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of desktop/laptop Microsoft Operating Systems:

  • Compares configurations to ensure compliance with DoIT enterprise-wide security considerations, performance requirements, established standards documentation, and DoIT enterprise-wide Service Level Agreements.
  • Follows a process of duplicating new Operating Systems installations by using developed scripting or imaging methods and procedures for efficient onsite installations of large quantities of desktops/laptops.
  • Performs on-site installations and software maintenance.
  • Maintains updated desktop operating system patches and fixpacks utilizing Microsoft Software Update Services and Windows Update Services software.
  • Provides support for complex desktop functions including drive sanitization, configuration, installation, and support of network printing equipment, Domain Name System, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, File Transfer Protocol, Antivirus.
  • Utilizes, implements, and/or works with Microsoft Server, Active Directory, networking environments, Microsoft Windows Desktop/Laptop systems, Mobile devices configuration, Software Deployment tools such as Microsoft Windows deployment service, Microsoft Deployment tools Lite-touch SCCM/OSD, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft Office Suite, McAfee Anti-virus, switches, firewalls, Virtual Private Network, Internet, voice systems, programming languages and scripts, and Remedy on Demand in the performance of duties.

25%  Provides leadership to assigned technicians in complex desktop imaging:

  • Coordinates assignments for major and complex desktop installations, drive sanitization processes and procedures, Operating Systems installation/upgrades, software installations, and software conversions.
  • Coordinates and monitors activities of assigned Staging Operations staff.
  • Assists in providing work guidance, training, and direction.

 

10%  Analyzes and evaluates new technology to anticipate the probable impact on future plans and current information systems:

  • Makes recommendations regarding purchases of future direction strategies to agency management regarding network operating systems, PC operating systems, security systems, and integration with network telecommunications infrastructure.

 

5%  Provides end user support for all networking applications by resolving user questions/problems regarding networking applications including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio, McAfee Anti-virus software, System Center Config Manager, Specialized Agency Applications, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Active directory:

  • Assists Customer Solutions Center (CSC) with high level resolution by resolving user questions/problems regarding these network applications.

 

5%  Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field:

  • Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars and conferences to increase familiarity with and maintain current on IT products, vendors, techniques and procedures.
  • Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.

 

5%  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
  2. Requires one (1) year of professional experience in End User Computing, client services, or a related Information Technology field.

Specialized Skills

  1. Requires one (1) year of professional experience in Microsoft Server, Active Directory, networking environments, Microsoft Windows Desktop/Laptop systems, Mobile devices configuration, Software Deployment tools such as Microsoft Windows deployment service, Microsoft Deployment tools, Lite-touch SCCM/OSD, or Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager
  2. Requires one (1) year of professional experience in McAfee Anti-virus, switches, firewalls, Virtual Private Network, Internet, voice systems, programming languages and scripts, Domain Name System, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocolor or File Transfer Protocol.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. One (1) year of professional experience with Microsoft Server, Active Directory, networking environments, Microsoft Windows Desktop/Laptop systems, Mobile devices configuration, Software Deployment tools such as Microsoft Windows deployment service, Microsoft Deployment tools Lite-touch SCCM/OSD, or Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
  2. One (1) year of professional experience with McAfee Anti-virus, switches, firewalls, Virtual Private Network, Internet, voice systems, programming languages and scripts, Domain Name System, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol or File Transfer Protocol.
  3. One (1) year of professional experience performing configuration, testing, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of desktop/laptop Microsoft Operating Systems.
  4. One (1) year of professional experience providing leadership IT technicians involved in complex desktop imaging and installation, drive sanitation processes, operating system installation and upgrades, and software installations and conversion.
  5. One (1) year of professional experience providing support to users in an IT environment.
  6. Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgment in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature and diagnose system issues and coordinate efforts to resolve.
  7. Developed verbal and written communication skills to present information to others with clarity and precision.
  8. 8. Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients and others.

Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
