Natural Resource Intern
Metroparks is looking for an intern to assist Metroparks with natural areas and species conservation on priority sites through biological monitoring and research.
Internship begins on May 20.
$14.00/hr.
40 hrs./week
Location: Fallen Timbers Office, Maumee, OH.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Oak Openings Region. The region consists of 5000 acres and the natural habitats in the park range from oak savanna to wetlands to vegetated sand.
What we would like from you:
- College undergraduate or graduate classes toward a degree program in ecology, biology, or a related field.
- Completed some field related coursework.
- Have some experience with ecological research in the field.
- Data collecting experience.
- Sampling equipment use.
- Ability to walk and climb on uneven terrain and outdoors in all weather conditions including heat and cold.
What you will do:
- Assist Metroparks staff and volunteers with implementing biological research and monitoring plans throughout the park district.
- Use GPS equipment compass and IPad.
- Conduct biological monitoring of northwest Ohio ecosystems, flora, and fauna.
- Collect data using field equipment and established monitoring protocols; maintain and organize field equipment.
- Conduct reviews of scientific literature; complete research and monitoring reports.
