Development Intern

Job Description: As a Development Intern at Lakeshore Museum Center, you will play a vital role in supporting the museum's development efforts, including grant writing, donor database management, donor development, correspondence, fundraising, and membership initiatives. Working closely with the Executive Director, Director of
Operations, Guest Relations Manager, and Event Coordinator, you will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of nonprofit fundraising and donor relations. This is not a paid position, however, a stipend will be provided upon completion of your internship.
 

Responsibilities:
1. Grant Writing: Assist in researching, writing, and editing grant proposals to secure funding for museum programs, exhibitions, and initiatives. Interns will not be responsible for the grant, but we want to provide experience in the process.
2. Donor Database Management: Learn about our software, Bloomerang, and how to use it to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor information in the museum's database system, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
3. Donor Development: Support efforts to cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation partners through personalized communications and engagement opportunities.
4. Donor Correspondence: Draft thank-you letters, acknowledgment emails, and other correspondence to express appreciation for donor support and contributions.
5. Fundraising Support: Collaborate with the development team to plan and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives aimed at increasing revenue and donor participation.
6. Memberships: Assist in managing the museum's membership program, including processing new memberships, renewals, and member communications.
 

Qualifications:
1. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
2. Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management software (experience with donor management systems is a plus).
4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
5. Enthusiasm for fundraising, development, and nonprofit work.
6. Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and professionalism.
