Day Camp Coordinator
Pay Range: Starting at $15.00 an hour (depending on experience)
Position Summary:
Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Camp Director, the Camp Coordinator assists in conducting center camp programs. The role is responsible for general and specific functions and supervision of camp programs, which may include but is not limited to computer entry, planning, organizing, coordinating, record keeping, and reporting.
Essential Functions:
Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
Supervises program sites to include set-up and takedown throughout the seasons
Attends all center leadership teams meetings to share camp program updates pertaining to that area
Communicates with parents and addresses parent concerns in a timely manner, and directs to appropriate director as needed
Works directly with the Camp Director in developing, programming, planning and overseeing daily activities, scheduling, lesson plans and general camp operations
Ensures all camp schedules are completed satisfactorily in a timely manner; complies with the camp schedule, arriving to work on time and working as a flexible team player
Provides direction to the camp counselors and plays an important role in the training of staff
Knows, understands, trains and executes all camp policies and emergency procedures associated with the camp
Assists with the various administrative tasks; coordinates schedules and completes all necessary reports; takes inventory of and helps purchase necessary supplies
Helps ensure the cleanliness of all YMCA facilities by participating in light cleaning and organizing of supplies
Compiles program statistics in order to monitor and evaluate effectiveness of and participation in the program; ensures appropriate records are maintained including program registration, staff and attendance rosters and equipment
Creates schedule and implements program activities as outlined in the curriculum
Responsible for tracking balances due and canceling no-shows for all participants
Attend staff meetings and training sessions

Superior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, members and participants to create a culture of service
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Minimum 18 years of age
High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum one year of camp counselor or related leadership experience is required, experience in running or leading a camp program is preferred
Certifications Required:
Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
Within 30 days of hire: CPR Pro/AED and First Aid
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
