Internship Overview: As a Latin American Correspondent with the Latina Republic Reporting for Change Internship program, you will play a vital role in shedding light on the multifaceted stories and issues shaping Latin America today. Through your reporting, you will have the opportunity to engage with local sources, conduct interviews, and research and report on a wide range of topics including gender, environment, human rights, indigenous and minority communities, local leaders, along with initiatives to amplify democratic processes, education, economy, and entrepreneurship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on relevant topics and identify compelling stories from across Latin America.
• Cultivate relationships with local sources, community leaders, and experts in the region.
• Conduct interviews with individuals from diverse backgrounds to capture their perspectives and experiences.
• Collaborate with editors to refine story ideas and ensure accurate and impactful reporting.
• Actively participate in editorial meetings to discuss story development and coverage priorities.
• Utilize social media and other digital platforms to promote your stories and engage with our audience.

Qualifications:

Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese (proficiency in either language is preferred).

• Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging and informative narratives.
• Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of Latin American cultures, societies, and current affairs.
• Previous experience in advocacy, writing, research, or related fields is desirable.
• Ability to seek and implement feedback and meet deadlines in remote environment.
• Commitment to ethical reporting practices and sensitivity to diverse perspectives and experiences.
